Self Catering FAQs
Where are the cottages and apartments?
All of our self-catering cottages and apartments are on site at Callow Top Holiday Park, just outside Ashbourne on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District. You get the peace of open countryside with the pool, shop and Callow Inn only a short stroll away.
When are the cottages and apartments open?
Our cottages and apartments are open the same dates as the camping and touring site, from late March to early November. For 2026 that is 27th March to 8th November.
How many people can stay?
Dovedale and Ashbourne Cottages each sleep up to 5, Hartington Apartment sleeps up to 4, and Okeover Apartment sleeps up to 6, including a double sofa bed. If you’re travelling as a larger group, give us a call and we can talk through the options.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Dovedale Cottage and Ashbourne Cottage have a check-in from 3pm and check-out by 11am. Hartington and Okeover Apartments have a check-in from 2pm and check-out by 10am.
Are the cottages dog friendly?
We’re sorry, but dogs aren’t permitted in any of our self-catering cottages or apartments, with the exception of assistance dogs, which are welcome throughout the park. Dogs are very welcome elsewhere on the park, including on the touring and camping pitches, so this only applies to our indoor accommodation.
Is the accommodation good for visiting Alton Towers?
Very much so. Callow Top is around 20 minutes’ drive from Alton Towers, making our cottages and apartments an ideal self-catering base for a theme park trip as well as exploring Dovedale and Ashbourne.
What is included in the cottages?
Each cottage and apartment comes with a fully fitted kitchen, bed linen, free WiFi and private parking, plus full use of the park facilities including the heated outdoor pool, the Callow Inn and the licensed shop.
