🏕️ An award-winning Peak District holiday park
Sustainability

Environmentally Friendly

As a family owned and run park in the heart of the Peak District, looking after the countryside around us matters to us.

Our commitments

Looking after the place we live and work

Callow Top is committed to complying with relevant environmental legislation, preventing pollution, reducing our impact on the environment, and continually improving our environmental performance by monitoring progress against targets on a regular basis.

We aim to halve our carbon emissions by 2030 and to reach net zero emissions by 2050.

Our objectives
Solar panel installation at Callow Top Holiday Park
Energy and resources

100kWh of solar panels on the park

We have installed 100kWh of solar PV panels to drastically reduce our emissions and carbon footprint. The swimming pool is now heated largely from the panels, and we use substantially less burning oil because the solar PV produces the energy to heat our water.

How this works day to day

💧

Water

Rainwater from the roofs is collected for watering plants and gardens. Showers and amenity block taps are push button, so they cannot be left running, and we do not use sprinklers to water grass, plants or shrubs.

♻️

Recycling and waste

We work with a waste disposal contractor who has a zero to landfill policy. We already recycle aluminium and tin cans, coloured and clear glass, plastic, cardboard, office paper, ink cartridges and scrap metal.

🚲

Travel

We avoid travel wherever possible and meet clients, contractors and staff by video conferencing when appropriate. Seven of us live 400m from the park and all walk to work, and most of our team live within 3 miles, with many walking, cycling or car sharing to get here.

💡

We raise awareness and train our team on environmental issues constantly, from explaining why we installed the solar panels to keeping up an everyday ethos that is pro green, clean and environmentally aware.
