The Matlock Bath Illuminations are back for 2026: a parade of decorated, lit-up boats floating along the River Derwent after dark. It’s a proper family evening out, with entertainment and children’s rides along the riverside.
2026 dates
- Preview night: Saturday 12th September
- Every weekend from Saturday 19th September to Sunday 1st November
- One Friday night: 30th October
- Fireworks every Saturday in October, plus the finale on Sunday 1st November

Make a day of it
There’s plenty to do in Matlock Bath before the lights come on. Ride the cable cars up to the Heights of Abraham, or take younger children to Gulliver’s Kingdom, then come back to the riverside for the evening.
